Default Idea for Future Chatper Missions - Crossing the Chapters

Just a minor brain storm idea for future chapters...

Cross-Chapter-Local Missions

The idea is this... in few story missions of the future chapter, have them take place at the location of the exisiting chapters.

So say in the future chapter story, it have you try to track down 5 ancient artifacts that were scatter accross the world. One could be in Ruined Ascalon, one in Vibbi, and one in Canthra Emperor's Place/Tomb... or something alike that. So for the mission, you have to travel to those land and track it down.

Now, since it is still a stand alone game, that means you don't actually need to own the other game to finish those mission. You will be gated or boated to that Mission outpost (and/or with very very limited access to one or two exploration area near it), and allow to do mission there... and that is all. In some sense, its like just using the art assets of those place to make a mission...

However, you will be able to enlist local helps. This means the player who own those chapter (and with out need to own the new one), will able to enter into the outpost and play those mission too.

Advantages
Several possible advantages for this. First, it allow player who just own the new chapter to see the local of the other one, including the land, mobs, weapons, and player classes/armor there, along with social interaction with those of another chapter.. which might help get them excited into purchasing the other chapter. Part of "retro-marketing".

Second, it give those who own the old chapter something new to do, as well as get intersting about the new one, which might entice them to buy it.

Also it would help add more emersion, making the world feel like its a world. And refercing back the the old lore is always fun.

Aside from obvious technical implementation problems, what you're suggesting are basically quests that span continents, not missions. This will likely backfire since alot of the supposedly "new" content in the new chapter are actually old art and old content from previous chapters. So unless you've got a really good story for chapter 4 to justify the reuse of content from the previous 3 chapters, this idea likely won't take off.

The better way to encourage new players to buy old campaigns is to give them the trial keys. I'd rather have access to the whole thing for a couple of days than just getting to see that one location for a mission/quest that's totally unrelated to the old campaign.

Keep in mind that the suggestion is not for all Missions of New chapter to take place in "land of the exisiting chapter", but rather just a very selected few (1 to 3).

And you are not to have full access to all the of the exisiting chapter, only "visiting" a certain part of it that is the Mission (or relate to the Mission).

They've already done this with nightfall so you're aware. There is a quest in the desolation that will take you to kill Kepkhet Marrowfeast outside Augury Rock in the crystal desert. You can only get this quest if you own Prophecies and Nightfall.
